Focus on Life Dinner 2024

A record breaking crowd of 300 attended the annual fundraising dinner for Right to Life of Michigan.  The three Downriver affiliates (Southern Downriver, Upper Downriver and Central Wayne County) co-sponsored the event held September 18 at The Grecian Center in Southgate.

It was attended by Representative James DeSana from the 29th House District and Rylee Linting, candidate for the 27th House District.  She is endorsed by the Right to Life of Michigan PAC.  Knights of Columbus were represented from at least six councils.  High School Oratory contestant Ethan Cunningham from Gabriel Richard High School shared his winning speech on the dangers of Euthanasia.

The keynote address by author, EWTN personality and Holy Land tour guide Steve Ray was a wake up call to attendees as the Christian remnant in a post Christian world.  He pointed out parallels to early Christianity, and that like those early Christians, we have an opportunity and responsibility to share the lessons of Jesus, “swimming upstream” in deeds as well as words. We are created by God as body and soul and are made for eternity. Early Christians rescued and raised abandoned newborns, much like our work with Right to Life of Michigan does.  We change the world one person at a time.

The evening ended with a video preview of TV and social media commercials to persuade mothers that abortion is not their only choice. Life is the Other Choice. To support outreach,  pregnancy resource centers, and print pro-life election materials, donations of $27,190  were collected including $10,000 from Southern Downriver Right to Life.
