You all made the Detroit Catholic story!  Congratulations again for the outstanding competition in this year's Oratory contest.

 

Press release for your parish bulletin:

(Please use the appropriate attached student picture for your bulletin story.)  Perhaps your student can deliver his or her 5-7 minute speech to an upcoming parish event.

 

Four students from Gabriel Richard High School were among the five contestants in the High School Pro-Life Oratory Contest sponsored by Downriver affiliates of Right to Life of Michigan.  Each student spoke from a pro-life perspective on either euthansia or abortion from moral, scientific and sociological perspectives.  All contestants received T-shirts and a precious feet pin the size of a baby's feet 10 weeks after conception.  The first place winner received a prize of $150 and will advance to the state competition.

1st Place:  Zoe Loveday (St. Joseph Parish, Trenton)

2nd Place:  Ethan Cunningham (St. Pius X, Southgate)

3rd Place: Tyreeq Boyd (Summit Academy North, New Hope Assembly of God))

Honorable Mention: Brianna Kososki (St. Charles, Newport)

Honorable Mention: Matthew Cole (Our Lady of the Scapular, Wyandotte)
